I Don’t Believe Grammy To Be A Standard Of Greatness

In a recent interview on Asaase Radio’s Nitro Avenue show, Ghanaian rapper Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, better known as Amerado, revealed that just as other artists are just prioritizing the Grammys, he does not see the award scheme as a standard of greatness., he does not see the award scheme as a standard pf greatness.

To him, if an artist is able to move a step forward, he believes that alone is enough, but if the ultimate music artist in the world comes along, then it’s fine.

He said:

“Grammy is not a standard for greatness; I don’t believe that. We don’t have to accept the notion that, a musician must win a Grammy before he or she is respected. If an artiste is able to grow from steps one to two, that’s enough. If the Grammy comes, fine; that’s a bonus.”
