Asantewaa renders an apology to Ghanaian musicians after ‘disrespectful’ comment about song promotion on UTV [Video]

TikToker Asantewaa, a Ghanaian, has expressed regret to Ghanaian musicians and those who were offended by her insulting remarks on United Showbiz last Saturday regarding song promotion.

On June 18, Asantewaa argued on United Showbiz that TikTokers, not singers’ quality, is what makes songs go viral.

She said that a performer’s impact, not their skill or understanding, decides a song’s popularity.

No musician, according to Asantewaa, can make a song become a hit without them.

“I have always maintained that it doesn’t matter how long you have played your music game. When you make that song, it is not about your craft, you need to get us on board before it can blow. If not, you will be the only person singing the song… We make the song trend,” Asantewaa touted.

After she made her comment, some music fans criticized her for asserting definitively that she and her colleagues are what cause artists’ songs to go viral rather than their talent.

Asantewaa responded to her detractors by saying, “I think people are misquoting me, I was there with Wesley Kesse, and Jacqueline Mensah, if you watch the video we were all having fun,” on today’s episode of Pulse One on One.

I am not a musician and I cannot sing, so if I am talking about promotion, I am not saying that you are not a musician. “You guys know we were all having fun, people don’t even comprehend the reality that a lot goes into writing music,” she remarked.
